If you go down to the woods today...

You're in for a big surprise!
 Check out this cool table!
 It's metal! And standing height!
You can mow the grass under this table without moving it!
And you can see into the trunk of the tree!
A great creative thing, perfect for a Mad Hatter Tea!

Het Landje !

"A garden is a feast for the eyes and a life long chore!"
A sunny Sunday! Time to visit Het Landje
 There's a lot in bloom!
Baardiris in Dutch!
 Bearded iris in English!
 Ooievaarsbek in Dutch!
 Cranes bill in English!
 Such a lovely Hosta setting!
And wasn't it a great week for the Chelsea Flower Show! 130,000 visitors! The BBC's coverage of this great flower event was fantastic! So many great designers and wonderful show gardens! Plus the great Pavilion! There must have been something there to suit everyone's taste! One combination in a few of the artisan gardens was blue and orange!  And here it is at Het Landje!

Join me for coffee and cake in the garden!
Here's a cozy place to sit! With a view!
Here's a gate that's so inviting to walk through!
But do take the time to look up!
 It's a Paulona tomentosa, Anna-Paulonaboom, Foxglove Tree!
Guess who flew in with an eye out for his dinner!
He flew further, with no fish from the pond!
Het Landje, Highly recommended if you're in the area!
Check their website for opening times!

Hosta Help!

Hosta 'Sum and Subtle'
This Hosta needs a bit of TLC! With only half the amount of rainfall this Spring, this Hosta has had a rough start! The other plants around it are more tolerable to dryer conditions and are thriving! So this Hosta is getting too little sunshine and to many slugs! Time to do something about it!
Dig it up and split it in two!
Then give it a good drink in a bucket of water!
Trim off all those slug damaged leaves!
Then place it in a huge plant pot with good potting soil! Water well and let it settle in! We'll have to wait and see how it recovers the coming year! There's a lot more growing time this year!
 Hosta 'Sum and Substance'
Greets you by the front door!
Something for Summer!
Another garden idea spotted on Internet! See what you can do with those small bud vases and tea cups! Great for holding tea lights, small candles! And while you're outside this Summer why not enjoy a piece of this! Strawberry Cookies And Cream Cake by Joy the Baker! I know I'll be giving it a try!

Cantons Park

A sunny day in May! Time to visit the Cantons Park!
It's still empty! That's a year or 2 of missed opportunity!
Such a bureaucratic shame that this has to happen
to such a beautifully renovated, historic structure !
A great park for a short walk!
 They've repaired the railing!
We're just in time! The Davidia involucrata is in bloom!
Better known as the handkerchief tree( zakdoekjesboom)!
Wishing you a green week ahead!

 Lamb's ear (ezelsoor)

Time for a new watering can. A bit boring though!
Not anymore! It's ready for the Hosta Leaf Show!
Hope there's a bit of sparkle in your rainy day!

Textile Festival!

What a gorgeous day to be visiting Leiden!
It's time for the 5th Textile Festival !
A Hosta Leaf! What a great start!
Textile Art can be found through out Leiden!
The route takes you along museums!
Such as Siebold House
 This is a fun technique!
A bit of crafty paint and cut and paste work!
 A fish! See the teaspoons?
These are real! Spring at the Hortus!
 A bit of colour!
Inside "Pieterskerk" is where most of the
Festival exhibits take place!
This is a great piece! Half photo! Half add on skirt!
 This is the top!
They organised/grouped the displays very well!
This Tee Pee/ti pi was a group effort!
Many triangles sent out then in and put together!
That's a lot of organisation for the whole process!
 There were landscape creations!
Other creations!  "Fish and bread"
 Made from these!
 And this group effort! Amazing!
Start off with a huge dress as a "base"
Send out numbered pieces to be stitched, embroidered!
Then sent back in, gathered and collected!
Start hand sewing them on during the Textile Festival!
I do hope the end result, by closing Sunday,
is posted on their website!
"Pluck de Dag"  Seize the day / Carpe diem
Another great group effort! A giant ant
covered in ant themed rectangular pin cushions!
"White wash"
This idea is great! A photo on canvas....
 ...the enhanced with fabrics!
I definitely will have to give this a try!
Like this one hanging in a different location in Leiden!
String and nails in the corner of a room can be so effective!
What a day in Leiden! Super organised!
Super idea's! The next Textile Festival in 5 years!
We'll have to go again!
